Fail one section and you fail the whole exam. That is why GreekBrain reports your weakest skill instead of an average — 90, 90, 90 and 20 is a fail, and an average would call it 72%.

Sound familiar?

This is what the week after “you need a Greek certificate” actually looks like.

A lawyer told you that you need A2 for permanent residence, or B1 for citizenship, and you have no idea what that means in practice.

You can read the alphabet and order a coffee. The moment somebody answers back in Greek, you freeze.

Two hundred days of Duolingo, and you still could not write a formal announcement to save your life.

You write something in Greek and nobody ever tells you whether it was good enough.

The exam runs once a year. Miss it, or fail one section, and that is another twelve months of waiting.

You are thirty-eight and competent at everything else. Speaking badly in front of a class is humiliating.

Every one of those is a feedback problem.

You cannot fix Greek you never get corrected on, and you cannot practise speaking with nobody in the room. That is the entire job of this app: an examiner in your pocket, available at eleven at night, that never once looks at you funny.

How GreekBrain works

Three steps, and the app does the hard part.

1

Check where you stand

Answer a handful of exam-style tasks. GreekBrain scores all four exam skills separately and tells you which one would fail you tomorrow.

2

Drill the exact exam tasks

Describe a picture out loud. Hold a real conversation. Write the letter. Every attempt comes back graded against the exam criteria, in seconds.

3

Walk in knowing

Watch your weakest skill climb week by week. Sit the exam when the number says you are ready, not when you are hoping.

What is inside the app

Six modules, each built against a part of the exam paper.

Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking All four sections

Know exactly where you stand

The exam is scored section by section, and you must pass all four. GreekBrain reports your weakest skill rather than a flattering average, so your study time goes where it changes the result.

The Greek language exam in Cyprus, in plain terms

The questions everybody googles first, answered without the runaround.

A2 or B1?

As a rule, A2 for permanent residence and B1 for naturalisation, with a separate exam on the political and social realities of Cyprus alongside the language paper. Requirements differ by route and they change, so confirm yours with an immigration lawyer before you book.

Where you sit it

The University of Cyprus School of Modern Greek runs certification sittings roughly twice a year. The Cyprus Ministry of Education runs the examination used for naturalisation. The Certificate of Attainment in Greek (Ελληνομάθεια) is held worldwide each May, with an extra October session inside Greece.

Results and dates

Sessions and results calendars are set by the awarding body and shift from year to year, so check the official page for your route before you plan your study. What does not shift is the shape of the paper, and that is what GreekBrain drills.

Greek exam questions, answered

When is the Greek language exam in Cyprus in 2026?

It depends on your route. The University of Cyprus School of Modern Greek runs certification sittings roughly twice a year, and the Certificate of Attainment in Greek (Ελληνομάθεια) is held worldwide in May, with an additional October session inside Greece. The Cyprus Ministry of Education publishes its own calendar for the naturalisation examination. Dates move, so confirm with the awarding body before you plan.

Do I need A2 or B1 Greek in Cyprus?

As a rule, A2 for permanent residence and B1 for citizenship, and the naturalisation route also has a separate exam on the political and social realities of Cyprus. Requirements differ by route and change over time. Nothing here is legal advice: confirm your own requirement with an immigration lawyer.

Can I practise the A2 Greek exam for free?

Yes. Vocabulary, grammar, the full writing curriculum and the build-a-sentence modes are free with no time limit, and every new account gets a few AI attempts so you can see what the graded feedback looks like before deciding anything.

How does the app grade my speaking?

You describe a picture or hold a role-play out loud. GreekBrain transcribes your Greek, scores it on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and communication, places you in a band from Below A2 to Above A2, and shows an example answer at your level. It is an estimate against the published criteria, not an official mark.

When do Greek exam results come out?

Results calendars are set by the awarding body and vary by session and route, usually some weeks after the sitting. Check the official page for the exam you registered for. GreekBrain does not issue or forward results.

Is this enough on its own, without a teacher?

Honestly, this plus a teacher is the fastest route. A weekly lesson is about four hours a month of exposure and the exam wants many times that. GreekBrain is where the rest of the hours happen, in private, graded every time.

Is it for complete beginners?

You need the Greek alphabet before you start. If you do not have it yet, learn that first and come back. Everything above that, from surviving small talk to a full exam letter, is what the app is built for.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone, Android and any browser, with your progress synced across all three. There is a Telegram version too.
